Be aware of UV rays

This article is from The New England Journal of Medicine. (See Article)
This old man is damaged by UV rays.

A 69-year-old man presented with a 25-year history of gradual, asymptomatic thickening and wrinkling of the skin on the left side of his face. The physical examination showed hyperkeratosis with accentuated ridging, multiple open comedones, and areas of nodular elastosis. Histopathological analysis showed an accumulation of elastolytic material in the dermis and the formation of milia within the vellus hair follicles. Findings were consistent with the Favre–Racouchot syndrome of photodamaged skin, known as dermatoheliosis. The patient reported that he had driven a delivery truck for 28 years. Ultraviolet A (UVA) rays transmit through window glass, penetrating the epidermis and upper layers of dermis. Chronic UVA exposure can result in thickening of the epidermis and stratum corneum, as well as destruction of elastic fibers. This photoaging effect of UVA is contrasted with photocarcinogenesis. Although exposure to ultraviolet B (UVB) rays is linked to a higher rate of photocarcinogenesis, UVA has also been shown to induce substantial DNA mutations and direct toxicity, leading to the formation of skin cancer. The use of sun protection and topical retinoids and periodic monitoring for skin cancer were recommended for the patient.

Bad case of window tint

Window Shield used be black color. It was hard to see inside. However, it is getting light. You cannot expect heat reduction from this film.

As you can see, top of window is still black color, because it was hided in frame.
However, window glass is getting lighter, because of sun light.

Filink produces 100% Ceramic film which does not need worry about discoloring and weakened quality.
We guarantee at least 10 years and you can use it in your lifetime.

Be wise when you choose window tint film.

This is our plant where we are manufacturing all of window films.

Low-E window glass vs Window film

First of all, Low-E window glass is much expensive than window film. Window film costs half or a third of Low-E window glass costs.

Secondly, Low-E glass focuses on insulation in winter. So it could be warmer in summer. Therefore, you will spend more money for cooling cost in summer. However, window film reduces heat in and saves cooling cost in summer. Also, it prevents from air leakage, so it keeps warm air from outside in winter. It leads to save heating cost in winter.

Thirdly, Filink film is made of 100% ceramic which does not allow discoloring, or down-grade of film quality. Window film rejects 99% UV rays which means that furniture or interior stuff will be protected from discoloring or damage from sun.

Last of all, California in the USA add window film into its building code. Also window film is popular in Japan as well, because window film helps hold panes in place to minimize flying glass due to violent weather or accidents. Especially, Japan had lots of damage due to earthquake.

If you want to save both of cooling and heating cost, then install window film at your home, office, and your car. It will give you safety, good looking, and saving money as well. You will return on invest within 3 years.

The reasons why you need to use window film

Window film has lots of names such as IR film, solar control film, tint film and so on. However, it is quite same products. Window film is applied on the window of car, or building to reduce heat from sun, also keep warm or cool air from outside. It will reduce your cooling or warming cost. I will explain to you what benefits you could earn from window film.

First of all, it will save your money as I mentioned above. Window film prevents from air leakage, so it keeps warm air or cold air from outside. Therefore, you could turn off or slow down your AC or heater. It is same for a car.

Secondly, you might see discoloring of your interior things in a car or home. It is caused by UV from sun. Window film blocks 99% of UV rays.

Thirdly, you can protect your skin from sun. UV caused skin trouble, skin cancer, and skin aging. You don't need even Sun block cream when you are in a car or home if you have a window film.

Fourthly, you can choose shade. If you don't want to be seen from outside, you can choose dark color film. On the other hand, you can choose light color film if you want to get more light.

Last of all, it is good for your safety. It reduces glare from outside when you drive as long as keeping high clarity.

Tint Terminology

MIL THICKNESS.
A thousandth of an inch is a derived unit of length. Equal to 0.001 inch, it is normally referred to as a thou, a thousandth, or (particularly in the United States) a mil.

PLY
A layer of material. Ply is used to display the number of separate layers of polyester film that are used in the manufacturing process to make a particular window tint product.

VISIBLE LIGHT TRANSMITTED (VLT)
The percentage of visible light (380 – 750nm) passes through a window or material.
When you choose the film, High VLT film has light color and high clarity. Otherwise, Low VLT film has Deep color like black and is hard to look inside of the car from outside.

VISIBLE LIGHT REFLECTED (VLR)
Visible light rejected is the total percentage of visible light reflected by a glazing system that can be seen visually.

Normally, metallic film has high VLR and it is glare.

SOLAR ENERGY ABSORBED
Solar energy absorbed is the ratio of the amount of total solar energy directly absorbed by the glazing system to the amount of total solar energy falling on that glazing system.

SOLAR ENERGY TRANSMITTED
Solar energy transmitted is the ratio of the total solar energy passing through the glazing system to the amount of total solar energy falling on that glazing system. The less solar energy transmitted through a glazing system, the less heat that enters.
SOLAR ENERGY REFLECTED
Solar energy reflected is the ratio of the amount of the total solar energy directly reflected by the glazing system.

SHADING COEFFICIENT (SC)
Shading coefficient, is a value that determines one type of thermal performance of a glass unit (panel or window) in a building. It is basically the ratio of solar gain (due to direct sunlight) passing through a glass unit to the solar energy which passes through 3mm Clear Float Glass. It is referred to as an indicator to how the glass is thermally insulating (shading) the interior when there is direct sunlight on the panel or window.
Briefly, low SC film is more effective when you are cooling down your place in summer.

TOTAL SOLAR ENERGY REJECTED (TSER)
Total solar energy rejected is the percentage of incident solar energy rejected by a glazing system.
It is one of the most important factors when you choose the window film. High TSER means good to reduce the heat.

U-VALUE U-value is a measure of the rate of heat conductivity of a glazing system. For example, low u-value film is effective when you warm your place in winter.

ULTRAVIOLET REJECTED (UVR)
Ultraviolet rejected is the ratio of ultraviolet solar energy (wavelength of 300 – 380nm) that is transmitted by a glazing system to the total solar ultraviolet energy falling on the glazing system.

EMISSIVITY (E) Emissivity is a measure of surface’s ability to absorb or reflect far-infrared radiation. Infrared radiation is that which is sensed by the body as heat.
SOLAR HEAT GAIN COEFFICIENT (SHGC)
Solar gain (also known as solar heat gain or passive solar gain) refers to the increase in temperature in a space, object or structure that results from solar radiation. The amount of solar gain increases with the strength of the sun, and with the ability of any intervening material to transmit or resist the radiation.
